For many of our subscribers
TheLaw.net is all, if not more, than they need. Others,
because of our vast national scope, see us as the go-to
resource; the service that provides the reference point for
creating that shorter list of more expensive resources they
may still need from other vendors.
Others really like their trusty
slice of West or Lexis. They've been using it forever and
they understand how it works. But, they see TheLaw.net as
"meter insurance" for those occasions when they
need a national or regional look and need to venture outside
The Plan.
For example, if you are searching
at the Federal appellate level, by rights you should have
unfettered access to all thirteen Federal circuits. Last
time we checked, West was selling the Federal circuits for
around $400 a month. TheLaw.net, by contrast, includes
great, timely, searchable coverage of all Federal circuits
with every subscription. You are not limited to your primary
jurisdiction and as we are fond of saying, you do not have
to have vast resources to have access to vast resources.
If you practice in a rural state,
there is scant published precedent originating from the
state appellate courts. If you are in Oregon, you may need
to look to California. If you are in Vermont, you may need
to look to New York.
Similarly, if you practice
in New York City, you not only border another state
jurisdiction in New Jersey, but you border the United States
Court of Appeals for the Third Circuit, as well, and chances
are your client pool is culled from these multiple
jurisdictions. Practitioners facing this scenario, must sign
up for two Plans, hoof it to a law library or otherwise find
a way to make due.
With TheLaw.net, you make due from
your desktop, from your office, your home or from the road,
and you do so at a price that folds neatly into any business
plan.
